Ryan Ryzner ’95 Named Principal

Ryan Ryzner ’95

We are excited to welcome Mr. Ryan Ryzner ’95 to the position of principal for Benedictine High School. He has consistently distinguished himself as a teacher, coach and administrator over the past 20 years. Ryzner was a member of the Benedictine Faculty from 2001-2012. Most recently, he has served as the Associate Director of the Upper School at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, OH. In addition, he has served as Gilmour Academy’s Middle School Director. He earned his undergraduate degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, and his master’s degree from Cleveland State University.

President Dr. Frank Bossu ’67 commented, “We are excited to have Mr. Ryzner join a line of dedicated Benedictine leaders with passion for developing young men in mind, body and spirit. Mr. Ryzner brings a track record of building strong academic programs. His experience leading programs that focus on civic engagement and experiential learning will benefit our young men in the Benedictine College Ready – Career Bound programs of engineering, medicine, entrepreneurship, and media. His leadership is vital to building the next generation of Benedictine leaders and continuing to grow Benedictine in the decade leading up to our 100th anniversary.”

Mr. Ryan Ryzner shared, “For more than 25 years, Benedictine has been an instrumental part of my own development and I am honored to be able to support the mission of the school in this role. I look forward to joining the dedicated Benedictine Community of faculty, staff, student families, alumni and friends as we continue the tradition of providing the most dynamic education for young men in the Cleveland-area.”

He is married to Sarah Ryzner and they have three children: Mary, Henry, and John. Ryan and Sarah reside in Cleveland and attend St. Patrick Church.

Mr. Ryzner will succeed Mrs. Sue Zulandt, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. Zulandt has served as academic dean and principal of Benedictine High School for the past five years and we thank her for her dedication and her service to our young men and our community. Ryan will assume the principal position on July 1, 2019. He will begin to work in close collaboration with Dr. Bossu and Mrs. Zulandt for a smooth transition.
