Cleveland Benedictine High School Football Announces John Carroll’s Don Shula Stadium at Wasmer Field as our NEW Homefield for the 2024 season!
CLEVELAND, OH December 18, 2023 – Cleveland Benedictine High School has exciting news for its football program and fans. The school recently announced that it has reached an agreement with John Carroll University to make Don Shula Stadium their new home field from the 2024/25 season. This is a great opportunity for Benedictine High School to have access to a top-notch facility, which will enhance their reputation as a top team in the region. Additionally, John Carroll University will have the chance to host more high-profile games and events.
Don Shula Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located on the campus of John Carroll University and is home to the Division III JCU Blue Streaks. The facility is named after Pro Football Hall of Fame coach and former NFL player, Don Shula. Shula was a cornerback for the Blue Streaks in the late 1940s and was drafted in the ninth round of the 1951 NFL Draft. The stadium has an official capacity of 5,416 spectators and is a top-notch facility that will undoubtedly provide a great atmosphere for the high school football games.
Overall, this is an exciting announcement that will undoubtedly benefit both Benedictine High School and John Carroll University. Brian Polian, Director of Athletics for John Carroll said, “We are excited to announce our partnership with Benedictine HS athletics and have Shula Stadium serve as the home of Benedictine football in the fall of 2024. It is very important to our University and to our department that we serve as good partners with the high schools in Northeast Ohio. This agreement serves as a wonderful first step in that direction. JCU is proud to be hosting Bengal football on Friday nights this fall!”
